Take a stroll along Brighton Beach’s boardwalk (which runs from Seabreeze Walk to Corbin Place) or grab a beach blanket, a good book and some treats from one of the many food stores in the neighborhood and make a day of it on the beach. Later, dust the sand from your heels and head over to the New York Aquarium to observe sharks, penguins, fish and 8,000 other aquatic creatures (Surf Avenue and West 8th Street). If you’re feeling adventerous meander down to the nearby wild and wacky Coney Island’s amusement district where you can catch a variety show, ride a roller coaster or see the area’s famous Mermaid Parade, which delights New Yorkers every June.
